CAM for Grbl and Mach3 CNC routers
Cutline Studio writes G-code for the two controllers most hobby and small-shop routers use: Grbl (and Grbl-based boards) and Mach3/Mach4. It knows your machine's size and limits, so the feeds, speeds and depths it suggests are ones your machine can actually run.
Machine presets
- Shapeoko 4 (Standard, XL, XXL): Grbl
- Sienci LongMill (30×30, 48×30): Grbl
- X-Carve 1000: Grbl
- Onefinity Elite Foreman: Grbl
- OpenBuilds LEAD 1010: Grbl
- 3018 desktop routers (775 motor): Grbl
- 4×8 ft gantry routers and the Apprentice 404: Mach3/Mach4
Not listed? Add your own: cutting area, maximum feed, frame type (light, medium or heavy) and spindle or trim router. Cutline scales depth per pass and chip load to how stiff the machine is.
What it sets for you
- Units: G20 (inches) or G21 (millimetres), your choice.
- Feeds and speeds: suggested from your bit, material and machine, and capped at the machine's maximum feed.
- Router dial: for Makita and DeWalt-style trim routers, the dial number to set, not just an RPM.
- Safe moves: a safety height between cuts and travel optimized to cut air time.
Running the file
Save the G-code and open it in the sender you already use: gSender, Candle, Universal G-code Sender or Carbide Motion for Grbl machines, or Mach3/Mach4. Zero your X, Y and Z where you set the job's origin, and run.
Coming: run the machine from Cutline too
Cutline Control, a machine screen for Grbl controllers, will arrive inside Cutline Studio as a free update when it's released, so you can design, make toolpaths and run the machine in one app.
