Summary
We collect only what we need to sell Cutline Studio, run its features and answer you. We don't sell or share personal information, and there's no tracking or analytics on this website or in the app.
What we collect and why
1. Emails you send us
The contact form on this site opens your own email app; the page itself sends and stores nothing. When you email us, we use your name, address and message to reply (your consent, which you can withdraw any time). We keep emails for 12 months, then delete them.
2. Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe and its checkout, Link, under their own privacy policies; Link is the seller of record and handles sales tax. We never see your full card details. We receive your name, email, billing country and order details, and we keep your licence key with your name and email so we can deliver and support your licence (to perform our contract with you). We keep these for as long as your licence or subscription lasts, plus the time tax law requires us to keep sales records.
3. Licence checks (in the app)
When you activate, and every few days after, the app sends your licence key and your computer's name to our licence server to confirm the licence.
4. Updates (in the app)
The app asks our update server whether a new version exists, and downloads it if so.
5. Claude AI in the app
- Your own API key: what you type, say or attach and the current design go directly from your computer to Anthropic, under Anthropic's terms. We never see them.
- Cutline AI (the free trial and subscriptions): the same content passes through our server to Anthropic so we can pay for it. Our server does not store or log message contents, pictures or designs. It keeps only usage amounts and costs, linked to anonymous IDs: a random install ID, a one-way hash of your computer's ID, a one-way hash of your network address (for trial-abuse limits), and for subscribers a one-way hash of the licence key. These are used to apply the trial and monthly allowances and to prevent abuse (our legitimate interest). Kept while your trial or subscription lasts, plus 24 months.
6. The web demo
What you type in the demo on this site goes through our server to Anthropic so Claude can design your project. We don't store or log it. To give each visitor one free try, your browser keeps a random ID (local storage), and our server keeps one-way hashes of that ID and of your network address, plus the demo's cost, for 30 days. This is our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
7. Voice
Speech is turned into text on your own computer; audio never leaves it.
8. Website logs
Our host records standard request logs (IP address, time, page) for security and troubleshooting. Kept up to 30 days.
9. No analytics, advertising or tracking
No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies or scripts on this site or in the app, and no third-party embeds (videos, maps, social buttons or fonts that track you). Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver the font files.
Who processes data for us
Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI responses), Netlify (our website and server host), and our email provider (licence emails and replies). Each only for the purposes above.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict processing, get a copy (portability), and withdraw consent at any time. Email [contact email]; we'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information, and we don't use sensitive personal information. You have the right to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights.
Children
Cutline Studio is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Security
Encryption in transit (HTTPS), keys stored encrypted on your computer, hashed IDs on our server, and access limited to what's needed.

We'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we'll note it on the home page.
